India reports 4 new COVID-19 deaths, active cases approach 4,000

As of 8 AM on Monday, June 2, India’s active COVID-19 caseload is 3,961, with 203 new cases reported since Sunday. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data indicates a cumulative total of 32 COVID-19 deaths in the country since January of this year, with four fatalities reported since Sunday.

Fatalities since Sunday were reported in Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Kerala, with each state reporting one death.

Here’s a breakdown of active cases in some key states:

  • Delhi: Active cases increased by 47 to reach 483.
  • Kerala: With 35 new cases, active cases rose to 1,435.
  • Maharashtra: 21 new cases were reported, bringing the active case count to 506.
  • West Bengal: Active cases increased by 44 to 331.

Union Minister of State for Health and AYUSH (Independent Charge), Prataprao Jadhav, stated on Friday that the Centre is fully prepared for any potential COVID-19 situation.
