India’s space economy is poised for significant growth, potentially reaching $100 billion in the coming years, according to Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh. This growth is attributed to the opening up of the space sector, the emergence of space startups, and strong industry linkages, as well as India’s remarkable advancements in space technology.
Dr. Singh highlighted the transformative impact of the past decade, particularly the last five years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, on India’s scientific progress. He emphasized the crucial role of geospatial technology in various initiatives, including PM Gati Shakti infrastructure development and SVAMTVA land mapping.
Emphasizing the growing importance of space technology in India’s economy, Dr. Singh called for greater synergy between research institutions, academia, startups, and industry. He commended ISRO for its pivotal role in spearheading this initiative, which aligns with the ‘Whole of Science, Whole of Nation’ approach.
The Capacity Building Programme on Geospatial Technology & Applications, jointly organized by ISRO and the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), aims to raise awareness and motivate youth to explore the vast potential of geospatial technology. Dr. Singh expressed the need for more frequent and comprehensive capacity building programs to fully harness the power of this technology.
With the establishment of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, India is further strengthening its scientific ecosystem. Dr. Singh expressed confidence in the nation’s youth, who will steer India through the Amritkaal, as envisioned by Prime Minister Modi for India@2047, and celebrate the nation’s grand entry into Swarnimkaal.
The event was graced by the Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, ISRO, S.Somanath, and CBC Chairman Adil Zainulbhai, along with other senior officials.
