Mobile internet services have been suspended in the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri following a deadly ambush on Army vehicles and the subsequent deaths of three individuals allegedly detained for questioning.
On Thursday afternoon, heavily armed militants targeted an army gypsy and truck in Poonch, killing five soldiers and injuring two others. The attack sparked outrage and a massive search operation is underway to track down the perpetrators.
Heightening tensions, three individuals detained for questioning in connection with the attack died mysteriously on Friday. While the cause of their deaths remains unknown, their families have been handed over the bodies for last rites.
To prevent the spread of rumors and maintain law and order, mobile internet services have been suspended in both districts. Senior officials are closely monitoring the situation and additional security personnel have been deployed in sensitive areas.
