On Thursday night, the Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire by initiating firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri, Kupwara, Tangdhar, and Karnah sectors of Jammu and Kashmir. Defence sources reported that Pakistan also fired eight missiles aimed at Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia, all of which were intercepted by Indian air defence units. These sources likened the visuals over Jammu to a Hamas-style rocket attack on Israel. They further stated that the Pakistan Army is behaving like the terrorist organization Hamas, referencing a reported meeting between the ISI and Hamas in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir last month. Explosions were also heard in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, as Indian air defence intercepted Pakistani drones.
Separately, Indian air defence intercepted Pakistani drones in Jaisalmer, with explosions and flashes reported in the sky. Blackouts were enforced in Bikaner, Rajasthan, Jalandhar, Punjab, and several areas in Jammu and Kashmir, including Kishtwar, Akhnoor, Samba, and Jammu, as well as in Amritsar.
Tensions escalated as Pakistan targeted Jammu with loitering munitions on Thursday, prompting a response from Indian Air Defence guns. This followed India’s Operation Sindoor, a response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pok with precision strikes. India had previously stated that any attacks on its military installations would be met with a suitable response.
This morning, the Indian Armed Forces reportedly targeted Pakistani Air Defence Radars and systems at multiple locations. According to sources, the Indian response matched the domain and intensity of Pakistan’s actions, and an Air Defence system in Lahore was reportedly neutralized. The statement also noted that Pakistan had earlier increased the intensity of unprovoked firing across the LoC using mortars and heavy-calibre artillery in the Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
