Jammu and Kashmir: In a bid to neutralize terror threats, security forces have launched extensive search operations across forests in Rajouri and Poonch districts. The joint operation involving police, army, and CRPF personnel is currently underway in areas like Budhal, Thanamandi, Sunderbani, Kalakote, and Mendhar.
On Sunday evening, three individuals were picked up for questioning from Barote village in Budhal. Their involvement in suspicious activities is being investigated.
Since Monday morning, searches have been intensified in Muradpur, Bathuni, Ghai Bhawal, Tatta Pani Broh, Ghambir Mughlan, Rajdhani-Thanamandi, Gursai, Jabranwali Gali, Saruti, and Ari villages. These areas, including some close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar, have been identified based on intelligence reports suggesting the presence of militants.
The search operations come after a fierce gunfight in Rajouri’s Dharmsal belt on November 22-23, where five soldiers, including two captains, were killed. Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were eliminated in the 36-hour encounter. Additionally, a 5 kg Improvised Explosive Device was detected and destroyed in Topa Hilltok area of Darhal on December 2.
