Jammu and Kashmir DGP to hold public grievance meetings twice a month

Jammu and Kashmir DGP R R Swain will hold public grievance meetings twice a month, on the second and fourth Saturdays, from 2 pm to 4 pm. He has urged people to submit a written statement or application in advance.

The decision was taken after Swain learned that people were approaching the police headquarters in Jammu without prior appointment and some were unclear about the procedure to meet him. Swain noted that people should first approach junior officers who have the mandate to redress grievances. He said that directly approaching the DGP without giving an opportunity to the concerned officers in the field is not a healthy practice. Priority will be given to those who have approached field police units and yet their grievances remain unresolved.
