A period of widespread rain is forecasted for Jammu and Kashmir starting Thursday. The Meteorological Department (MeT) predicts dry weather for the next 24 hours, followed by isolated light rain or thundershowers over the subsequent two days.
“Dry weather is expected across most of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Starting Wednesday, there’s a possibility of light and scattered rain or thundershowers in isolated areas,” stated a MeT official.
The heaviest rainfall is anticipated on April 18 and 19. Kashmir is expected to experience widespread rainfall, while Jammu will likely see fairly widespread precipitation.
Temperature Trends
Minimum temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir were above normal during the night of Monday to Tuesday. In Kashmir, Pahalgam recorded the lowest minimum temperature at $5.0^\circ$C, and in Jammu, Banihal registered $11.3^\circ$C. Overall, night temperatures were to $5^\circ$C above the seasonal average in both divisions.
Daytime maximum temperatures were also significantly above normal. In Kashmir, many areas saw temperatures to $8^\circ$C above the seasonal average, while parts of Jammu recorded temperatures to $4^\circ$C above normal.
