Jammu and Kashmir’s Meteorological Department (MeT) anticipates a period of generally dry weather with intermittent light to moderate rain showers over the coming week, extending until June 8th.
In the preceding 24 hours, most areas experienced light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thundershowers. Specifically, Poonch, Baramulla, Samba, Jammu, and Kathua recorded rainfall along with gusty winds.
For Saturday, the MeT predicts intermittent spells of light to moderate rain, with isolated higher elevations potentially seeing light snow. Most areas will experience thunder, and a few locations may see moderate to heavy rain with intense showers and gusty winds.
Looking ahead, the week’s forecast is as follows:
- June 1-2: Isolated areas will experience brief spells of light rain and thundershowers.
- June 4-6: The weather will be predominantly dry, though isolated areas might see a brief spell of rain and showers in the late afternoon.
- June 7-8: Scattered locations can expect brief spells of rain and thundershowers towards the afternoon.
The MeT has also warned of potential landslides and mudslides in a few vulnerable areas, and intense showers could lead to flash floods in isolated spots.
