Two police officials were suspended and the Station House Officer (SHO) was attached to another department after a man died in custody under mysterious circumstances in Jammu district.
The deceased, identified as Sahil Saini, was arrested on January 30th for alleged theft and burglary. He was on a four-day police remand when he died on January 31st at the Gandhi Nagar police station.
The police spokesman stated that the district police are committed to a thorough and transparent investigation. They have suspended two officials and attached the SHO to ensure an unbiased probe. Additionally, they have requested a magisterial inquiry by the District Magistrate and an autopsy by a board of doctors in the presence of an executive magistrate to determine the cause of death.
