Under “Operation Kamdhenu,” led by SSP Jammu, Sh. Joginder Singh-JKPS, Jammu Police have intensified their crackdown on bovine smugglers. Nagrota Police recently apprehended a known smuggler from Miran Sahib and detained him under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA).
In 2024, Jammu Police have invoked the PSA against four bovine smugglers and the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS) against one drug peddler. Notably, three PSA warrants against bovine smugglers have already been executed in the Nagrota sub-division this year, demonstrating the police’s commitment to maintaining peace and harmony in the Jammu region.
The detained individual is:
- Mohd Shakoor, son of Mohd Gafoor, resident of Village Muralian, Miran Sahib, Jammu District.
Shakoor’s repeated involvement in bovine smuggling, which has significantly offended community sentiments, led to multiple FIRs against him. PSI Sandeep Kumar of Police Station Nagrota executed the warrant.
The successful execution of this warrant is attributed to the persistent efforts of SHO Nagrota and SDPO Nagrota, under the close supervision of SP Rural Jammu, with crucial support from the District administration. The public has expressed appreciation for the police’s decisive actions against bovine smugglers.
