Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Kulgam district, south Kashmir. An apple-laden container truck overturned in the Pombai area, trapping two of the four occupants underneath.
Despite a swift rescue operation involving police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local residents, the two trapped individuals were critically injured. They were promptly transported to the hospital but sadly succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Rather and Mukhtar Ahmad Itoo, both residents of Gopalpora Kulgam.
The accident occurred when the truck, bearing registration number JK03P-0505, overturned on a road in Pombai village. While two occupants managed to escape, the other two were trapped.
The incident took place amidst harsh winter conditions, further complicating the rescue efforts.
A case has been registered, and authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
