J&K Govt Official Dismissed for Embezzling Rs 1.63 Crore

Nikhil Gandral, a senior assistant in the Public Health Engineering department of Jammu and Kashmir, was dismissed from service on Saturday for embezzling more than Rs 1.63 crore.

Gandral was placed under suspension in December 2019 after a four-member committee was formed to investigate financial irregularities in the department. The committee found that Gandral had embezzled the funds by submitting fake bills and receipts.

An FIR was registered against Gandral in the Crime Branch, Jammu, and the general administration department sanctioned his prosecution. Gandral has been disqualified from any future employment with the government.

The dismissal of Gandral is a major step in the fight against corruption in Jammu and Kashmir. It sends a strong message that the government will not tolerate such behavior.
