The Jammu and Kashmir Police Crime Branch on Monday filed a chargesheet against four persons for allegedly running a fake employment racket and duping over Rs 41 lakh from unemployed youth.
The accused, identified as Abdul Rashid Pandit and Zahoor Ahmed Bhat from Baramulla, and Mohd Ayub and Mohd Azam Mellu from Poonch, were arrested in 2014 following a written complaint that a large number of youth from Poonch were duped on the pretext of getting jobs in various government departments.
During the investigation, the police found that the accused had issued fake appointment orders to 53 unemployed youth and collected Rs 41.9 lakh from them.
The four accused have been charged under Sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 467 (forgery of a valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
The police have said that the investigation is continuing to get more leads for thoroughly busting the deep-rooted employment racket.
