JK Police Rescue 37 Animals in Two Foiled Smuggling Attempts

Samba police successfully thwarted two separate bovine smuggling attempts, arresting one individual and rescuing 37 animals. The operations were conducted under the supervision of SSP Samba, Virinder Manhas.

In the first incident, a police team at Maheshwar, Samba, intercepted a truck with registration number PB03BE-4932. Upon inspection, officers discovered 20 bovines packed into the vehicle under cruel conditions. The driver, identified as Kala, son of Faizal Din of Sujanpur (Pathankot), was arrested, and the vehicle was seized. A case, FIR No. 211/2025, has been registered at Police Station Samba.

Shortly after, a second team at Diani, Samba, stopped a truck bearing registration number PB35Z-1286. Inside, they found 17 bovines being illegally transported in a similarly inhumane manner. The animals were rescued and the vehicle was impounded. A case, FIR No. 212/2025, has also been filed at Police Station Samba.

Both cases have been registered under U/S 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act, and investigations are ongoing.
