Javed Ahmed Rana, the Minister for Jal Shakti, recently led a comprehensive review of the Water Supply Schemes in the Pir Panjal Region at the Civil Secretariat. The meeting brought together key officials, including the Director Finance, Director Planning, Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, and Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti, to assess existing water infrastructure and identify areas for enhancement.
During the review, Minister Rana stressed the critical need for meticulous planning for the upcoming year to guarantee continuous water supply for the region’s residents. He instructed departments to develop detailed plans that account for the unique needs and challenges of the Pir Panjal region.
A significant point of emphasis was the importance of regular water quality tests to ensure safe drinking water for the public. The Minister directed Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) officials to prioritize water quality monitoring and implement corrective actions as needed.
The meeting also addressed the progress of ongoing Water Supply Scheme projects in the region. Expressing concern over delays, Rana urged officers to fast-track the completion of these projects while ensuring high-quality workmanship.
Furthermore, the Minister reviewed the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the Pir Panjal Region, highlighting the crucial role of community participation and involvement in sustaining these water supply initiatives.
Minister Rana reaffirmed the J&K Government’s commitment, under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, to providing safe and reliable drinking water to all residents of J&K, including the Pir Panjal Region. He assured that his department would work tirelessly to resolve the region’s water supply challenges and ensure the well-being of its inhabitants.
