Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified their efforts to dismantle the terror network, leading to the demolition of houses belonging to three active terrorists in Bandipora, Pulwama, and Shopian districts, officials reported on Sunday.
In Shopian district, authorities demolished the residence of Adnan Shafi in Wandina on Saturday night. Shafi reportedly joined terrorist groups last year.
Another active terrorist, Amir Nazir, had his house razed in the Pulwama district.
Meanwhile, in Bandipora district, the dwelling of Jameel Ahmad Shergojri, a long-time operative of Lashkar-e-Toiba active since 2016, was also demolished.
These actions bring the total number of houses belonging to terrorists and their support operatives that have been demolished since the Pahalgam attack to nine.
The crackdown follows a Tuesday incident in Baisaran, a well-known tourist destination in the upper reaches of Pahalgam in Anantnag district, where terrorists opened fire, tragically killing 26 individuals, primarily tourists from outside the region. This attack has heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowing to pursue the perpetrators relentlessly.
