In a crackdown on absenteeism and misconduct, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Samba district, Benam Tosh, has taken decisive action against two officers. Based on recommendations from inquiry officers and repeated warnings ignored by the individuals, SSP Tosh has removed one Selection Grade Constable and disengaged one Special Police Officer (SPO).
The Constable, Joginder Singh, was under suspension and had been absent from duty for ten months. He was also allegedly involved in a firing and assault case during his absence. Despite a series of attempts to contact him through signals, notices, and even public announcements, Singh showed no interest in returning to duty. Given his prolonged absence and the criminal case, he has been removed from service under Article 128 of the J&K CSR.
The SPO, Bachan Lal, has been disengaged for being a habitual absentee. He remained absent for six months in 2023 and did not respond to any attempts to bring him back on duty. Based on the inquiry officer’s recommendation, SSP Tosh decided to disengage him from service.
