A joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police has led to the discovery of a terrorist hideout in the Sarniyal Forest of Khari Tehsil, Ramban district. A significant cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the site.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the presence of a militant stockpile in the forested area of Khari, a team of 23 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) personnel from the Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police (JKP) launched a search operation. The operation continued late into the evening, culminating in the discovery of the terrorist hideout.
A thorough search of the hideout yielded a substantial haul of arms and ammunition, including:
- 113 – 7.62 mm AK 47 Rounds
- 2 – 9mm Rounds (rusted condition)
- 7 – 7.62 mm Sniper Rounds
- 5 – PIKA Rounds
- 1 – PIKA Belt
- 3 – AK-47 Magazines (rusted condition)
- 3 – Chinese Grenades
- 1 – Pakistan Grenade
- 2 – UBGL
- 300gms of explosives
- 1 – FM Transistor
- 2 – Fuses
- 2 – Detonators
Based on the recovered materials, a case (FIR No 262) under section 7/25 of the Arms Act and Sec 4 of the Explosives Substances Act has been registered at the Khari police station. An investigation into the matter is underway.
