Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi, presided over a high-level security review meeting on Wednesday at the Police Control Room (PCR) Srinagar. The meeting was convened to evaluate and plan security arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025, Muharram observances, and other major events in the Kashmir Valley.
According to a police spokesperson, participating officers initiated the meeting by briefing the IGP on their security plans for the peaceful execution of these significant events. They shared insights from previous experiences, underscoring the necessity of strong communication channels, seamless inter-force coordination, and advanced real-time monitoring systems.
Discussions centered on enhancing the existing security infrastructure, improving surveillance tactics, and optimizing personnel deployment at key locations. IGP Kashmir thoroughly reviewed the security framework and instructed officers to ensure the installation of CCTV cameras at all strategic points. He further stressed the importance of deploying sufficient manpower at each camp and sensitive areas to maintain a secure environment.
Birdi also highlighted the critical role of intelligence-driven operations, timely threat assessments, and proactive measures to mitigate potential risks and guarantee the safety of all participants. The meeting concluded with a firm commitment from all officers to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the upcoming events.
Attendees at the meeting included DIG CKR Rajiv Panday-IPS, DIG NKR Maqsood Ul Zaman-IPS, DIG SKR Javid Iqbal Matoo, SSP PCR Kashmir, all district SSsP of Kashmir Zone, and other officers.
