Srinagar and other district headquarters received their first snowfall of the season on Thursday, while higher areas experienced moderate snowfall. This marks the end of a nearly two-month-long dry spell in the Valley.
Authorities deployed snow clearance machines early in the morning to clear major highways and link roads. The Meteorological Department has predicted another wet spell starting on February 3rd.
Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 0.2 degrees Celsius, Gulmarg -7.6 degrees Celsius, and Pahalgam -4.1 degrees Celsius. In the Ladakh region, Leh town recorded a minimum of -4.4 degrees Celsius, and Kargil -6.9 degrees Celsius.
Jammu city recorded a minimum temperature of 7.2 degrees Celsius, Katra 4.1 degrees Celsius, Batote -1.4 degrees Celsius, and both Bhaderwah and Banihal recorded 0.2 degrees Celsius.
