Katra, June 8, 2025 – Northern Railways officially launched commercial operations of the Vande Bharat Express trains connecting Katra and Srinagar on Saturday. The service, which was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Katra on June 6, establishes a crucial rail link between Kashmir and the rest of India.
Passengers expressed significant excitement, with many noting their anticipation for this new train service to Kashmir. Officials reported a smooth first day of operations, with trains arriving at their destinations as scheduled. Public enthusiasm was evident, as most seats for the inaugural services were booked within hours of the train’s launch.
Northern Railway confirmed that two Vande Bharat train sets completed four trips between Katra and Srinagar throughout the day. The train offers two travel classes: Chair Car (CC) and Executive Class (EC), with tickets priced at ₹715 and ₹1,320 respectively.
