The Meteorological Department forecast light rain and snow over Kashmir’s higher reaches within the next 48 hours. Following weeks of dry weather, the region expects no significant precipitation until the month’s end.
A feeble Western Disturbance is anticipated on October 28, possibly bringing light rain or snow to northern and central Kashmir’s higher altitudes. However, the plains of Kashmir will likely remain mostly dry throughout this period, except for a brief drizzle.
Independent weather observer Faizan Arif predicts snowfall in Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Zojila Pass around October 24. As winter approaches, temperatures in Kashmir Valley are expected to gradually decrease from their current above-normal levels.
Farmers are advised to continue harvesting and storing crops and to carry out other agricultural activities. Srinagar’s minimum temperature was 7.3 degrees Celsius on Monday night, 1.9 degrees above normal. The maximum temperature was 21.9 degrees Celsius, 4.3 degrees above normal.
