In an ongoing effort against drug abuse, codenamed Operation JEEVANDAN, Reasi District Police conducted surprise vehicle checks. A team from Reasi Police Station apprehended two individuals, Rashid (son of Mohd Aslam) and Shajad Ahmed (son of Abdul Aziz), during a routine stop at Sulla. A search of their vehicle uncovered 2 grams of a heroin-like substance hidden in the dashboard.
An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered at Police Station Reasi under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (No. 60/2024 US 8/21/22/29). The investigation is ongoing to identify the source and destination of the drugs.
The operation was led by Inspector Chaman Gorka, Station House Officer (SHO) of Reasi Police Station, under the supervision of DySP HQ Reasi Neeraj Padyar.
Ms. Mohita Sharma, IPS, SSP Reasi, emphasized the multi-pronged approach taken by Reasi Police to combat drug abuse. This strategy includes organizing awareness programs throughout the district and actively pursuing legal action against drug peddlers under the NDPS Act. Additionally, Reasi Police has established an Anti-Drug Helpline (9070907017) for the public, guaranteeing anonymity for callers.
