In a major shakeup of Indian security forces, a series of senior appointments were announced this week. Anish Dayal Singh, currently the head of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), has been named the new Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). This follows the retirement of S L Thaosen in November.
Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer, will lead the CRPF until his own superannuation in December 2024. He takes over at a crucial time, as the CRPF faces internal challenges and plays a key role in internal security measures across the country.
Meanwhile, Rahul Rasgotra, a 1989-batch IPS officer currently serving as a special director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB), will replace Singh as the ITBP chief. He will hold the position until September 2025.
The reshuffle extends beyond these two forces. Nina Singh, a 1989-batch IPS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, has been appointed Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). She will serve until her retirement in July 2024. Finally, Vivek Srivastava, a 1989-batch IPS officer from Gujarat and currently a special director in the IB, has been named Director General of the Fire Service, Civil Defence and Home Guards. His tenure will last until June 2025.
