Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to discuss the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and its implications. The 30-minute meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence focused on the aftermath of the April 22nd attack, which resulted in 26 fatalities, primarily tourists.
Abdullah briefed Modi on the widespread public outrage and protests following the attack, emphasizing the unprecedented nature of such violence since the onset of terrorism in 1989. He also highlighted the bravery of pony ride operator Syed Adil Hussain Shah, who attempted to disarm a terrorist to protect the tourists.
The discussion also covered the attack’s impact on the region’s tourism industry and the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. The 38-day annual pilgrimage is scheduled to commence on July 3rd, utilizing the traditional 48-kilometer Pahalgam route and the shorter 14-kilometer Baltal route.
