Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on social media that over one crore households have registered for the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a rooftop solar scheme. He called the high registration numbers “outstanding news.”
The program offers households a chance to significantly reduce their electricity bills while generating their own clean energy. This initiative, according to Modi, is a major step towards promoting a more environmentally friendly lifestyle (LiFE) and a healthier planet.
He urged those who haven’t registered yet to do so quickly, highlighting the program’s benefits for both saving money and promoting clean energy.
Last month, the Union Cabinet approved the scheme with a total budget of ₹75,021 crore. This will cover installing rooftop solar panels and providing free electricity up to 300 units per month for one crore households.
