“Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Mann Ki Baat address, vowed to deliver the harshest punishment to those responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack, ensuring justice for the victims. He expressed deep sorrow and national outrage over the attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, primarily tourists. Modi condemned the act as a display of desperation and cowardice by terrorists and their supporters, particularly as Kashmir was experiencing a resurgence of peace, tourism growth, strengthened democracy, and increased opportunities for youth.
He emphasized that national unity against terrorism is India’s greatest strength, highlighting the global observation of India’s unified stance. He noted the nationwide empathy for the victims’ families, transcending regional and linguistic differences. “In the war against terrorism, the unity of the country, the solidarity of 140 crore Indians, is our biggest strength.”
The attack, which occurred in Baisaran, a popular tourist destination in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, involved terrorists opening fire, resulting in the 26 fatalities.
Modi also paid tribute to the late scientist and former ISRO head, K. Kasturirangan, acknowledging his significant contributions to the nation.
