Following a terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) upon his return from Saudi Arabia. Key attendees included Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
Prior to the CCS meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed deep condolences for the victims of the attack and reiterated the government’s “zero tolerance” policy towards terrorism. He vowed that the perpetrators and those behind the attack would face swift and decisive action. “The accused will soon see a loud and clear response,” he stated.
Singh also held a separate meeting with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Air Force Chief Marshal AP Singh, and other officials to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources indicated that the meeting comprehensively addressed all security-related issues in the region.
