Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the cultural significance of Pashmina and the administration’s commitment to reviving the industry. He stated that Pashmina is not just a word but a symbol of the region’s identity and has played a vital role in the economy for centuries.
Sinha acknowledged the challenges faced by the industry, including climate change’s impact on Pashmina goat herders. He assured that the administration is taking steps to address these challenges and provide support to artisans.
The LG announced that the administration will provide training, technological, infrastructural, and financial support to Pashmina artisans. He also stated that a program has been launched to register unregistered artisans so that they can benefit from government schemes.
Sinha expressed confidence that the PM Vishwakarma Yojana will transform the lives of artisans and craftsmen. He added that the administration will ensure increased participation of artisans in exhibitions to provide them with enhanced marketing opportunities and access to the global market.
