BJP senior leader Sunil Sharma, Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, condemned the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, primarily tourists. Speaking to reporters in Bandipora, Sharma emphasized the severity of the attack, stating, “This is unprecedented in India’s history, targeting tourists who are crucial to Kashmir’s economy. The act was a humiliation of humanity.”
He particularly highlighted the brutality of the killings, noting, “Shooting a husband before his wife, a father before his son—no act could be more heinous.” Sharma asserted that the BJP-led Government of India would ensure the perpetrators face severe consequences. “I state with full responsibility that the culprits will be eliminated,” he declared. He cited the Union Home Minister’s commitment to strict action against those responsible for the attack. “Anyone who continues such acts will meet the same fate. This is our pledge,” he added.
Addressing National Conference leader Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s remarks, Sharma dismissed them as inconsistent and unreliable. “Over the past few years, his statements have aligned with those of China, Pakistan, and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He once claimed Modi would need ten births to revoke Article 370,” Sharma said.
While welcoming Abdullah’s recent call to “teach Pakistan a lesson,” Sharma urged him to maintain consistency. “If you’ve taken a firm stance against Pakistan, which is a new development, I encourage you to stand by it and avoid contradictory statements later,” he concluded.
