In a fiery speech in Karimnagar on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a blistering attack on the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Congress party, accusing them of being synonymous with corruption, appeasement, and dynastic politics.
“Whenever someone talks about corruption, appeasement, or Parivarvaad (Dynastic Politics), the picture of BRS and Congress immediately comes to their mind. Both Congress and KCR are equal sinners in destroying Telangana,” Modi thundered.
He asserted that the trust of Telangana lies with the BJP, emphasizing that the party represents development and prosperity in the state.
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Modi remarked that the party’s MLAs could switch to the BRS at any given moment.
“Votes for Congress means votes for the BRS; it means the possibility of KCR coming to power again! There is only one way to oust KCR from power – choosing the ‘Lotus’,” he asserted.
Modi scathingly criticized the dynastic politics prevalent in both the BRS and Congress, accusing their leaders of prioritizing their own children’s interests over those of the people.
“Congress and BRS are alike! The Parivarvaadi leaders of these parties are concerned only about their own children, not yours! They will leave no stone unturned to ruin the future of your children. Their goal is to ruin you, Telangana, and this country,” he charged.
With the Telangana assembly elections looming on November 30, all major political parties, including Congress, BJP, and BRS, have intensified their campaigning efforts. The BJP, aiming to make inroads into the state, has deployed its top leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national president JP Nadda, to woo voters.
In the 2018 Assembly elections, the BRS, then known as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), emerged victorious with 88 seats, capturing 47.4% of the total vote share. The Congress, on the other hand, managed a mere 19 seats, while the BJP failed to secure a single seat.
