Assam’s Haibargaon Railway Station has become the first in the state to be inaugurated under the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), marking a significant milestone in India’s rail infrastructure modernization. Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended the inaugural event, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually dedicated 103 redeveloped railway stations nationwide.
The Haibargaon project, completed at an approximate cost of Rs. 15.85 crore, is among 50 stations identified for redevelopment in Assam under ABSS. Its inauguration highlights the Prime Minister’s commitment to enhancing grassroots infrastructure and bridging regional disparities through improved connectivity, particularly in Northeast India.
This redevelopment is a source of pride for Northeast Frontier Railway and Assam, demonstrating a clear vision for passenger-centric modernization. With upgraded amenities, enhanced accessibility, and culturally sensitive aesthetics, Haibargaon station sets a new standard for the 49 other stations slated for redevelopment in Assam.
