On Saturday night, police in Jammu and Kashmir seized 30kg of heroin from two suspected smugglers in a Punjab-bound vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
The official said that the recovery was made during a routine check of the vehicle. The heroin was reportedly concealed in a secret compartment in the vehicle.
The two suspects have been arrested and are being interrogated. Police are investigating the source of the heroin and its intended destination.
This is one of the largest heroin seizures in Jammu and Kashmir in recent months. It is a significant victory for the security forces in their fight against drug trafficking in the region.
