Punjab Police launched a successful operation against drug trafficking networks operating across borders. They apprehended one individual and seized a significant amount of illegal narcotics: 4 kg of methamphetamine (ice) and 1 kg of heroin.
According to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, investigations revealed the use of drones for transporting drugs from Pakistan. An FIR (First Information Report) has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in Amritsar. The authorities are actively investigating to identify the entire network involved in this smuggling operation.
In another significant development, Jalandhar Police Commissionerate cracked down on an international drug syndicate spanning five countries. Three members of a family – Satnam Singh (alias Babbi), his daughter Aman Rozi, and his son-in-law Hardeep Singh – were arrested. The police recovered a substantial amount of drugs (48 kg heroin) and cash (Rs 21 lakh) from their possession. Additionally, three high-end cars were seized.
DGP Yadav revealed details about the international syndicate. It operated across five nations – Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, and Canada. They were involved in large-scale drug trafficking across borders and between states, utilizing a domestic network spread across Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir. Initial investigations suggest these routes were used to smuggle the seized heroin consignment into India.
The mastermind behind this syndicate, according to DGP Yadav, is a Turkey-based drug smuggler named Navpreet Singh (alias Nav). He was also linked to a separate 350 kg heroin seizure by the Delhi Police Special Cell in 2021.
