Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 79th birth anniversary.
PM Modi tweeted, “On his birth anniversary, my tributes to former PM Shri Rajiv Gandhi Ji.”
Rajiv Gandhi was India’s youngest prime minister, who served from 1984 to 1989. He was assassinated by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in 1991.
Rahul Gandhi, who is currently in Ladakh, paid tribute to his father at the Pangong Tso lake. He said that his father had told him that Pangong Tso is the most beautiful place on earth.
Rahul Gandhi also wrote a post on social media, saying, “Papa, the dreams you had for India are shown from these priceless memories. Your mark is my way – understanding the struggles and dreams of every Indian, listening to the voice of Mother India.”
