Reasi Police Arrests Two Drug Peddlers

In a sustained effort to combat drug peddling in District Reasi, police apprehended two individuals during a night patrol on March 10-11, 2025. Ravi Sharma (32) and Kishor Singh (26), both residents of Reasi, were stopped by a police team from Police Post Dera Baba. A search revealed 20 strips of Pregabalin Pregzara-300 (200 capsules total) in their possession.

The two men were immediately arrested for drug smuggling, a crime that negatively impacts the local community. A case has been registered against them under Sections 129/170 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), and they were presented before the Hon’ble Court of EMIC Dera Baba.

The Reasi Police are implementing a multi-faceted approach to address drug abuse. This includes:

  • Awareness Programs: Conducting outreach in all areas of the district.
  • Strict Enforcement: Regularly booking drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act.
  • Anti-Drug Helpline: Operating a confidential helpline (9070907017) for public reporting.

SSP Reasi, Sh. Paramvir Singh (JKPS), issued a strong warning to drug peddlers, stating that there is no tolerance for such activities in Reasi. He urged them to cease illegal operations, emphasizing that those who continue will face severe legal consequences.
