Reasi Police Busts Drug Ring, Seizes Heroin, Arrests Three

Reasi, February 26: As part of “Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh,” Reasi Police intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking, arresting three individuals and seizing 9.81 grams of heroin during a routine checkpoint operation.

Officers from Police Station Katra intercepted an auto-rickshaw at Nangal Katra, en route from Kakryal to Katra. During a search, the driver, Vinod Kumar, was found carrying 1.64 grams of heroin. Further searches of the passengers yielded:

  • Mumtaz Ahmed: 1.69 grams of heroin.
  • Roshan Lal: 6.48 grams of heroin.

All three were arrested, and a case (FIR No. 50/2025) was registered under the NDPS Act. An investigation is underway to identify the source and distribution network of the drugs.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of SHO Katra, Inspector Khyatimaan Khajuria, and supervised by SDPO Katra, Bhisham Dubey-JKPS, and SP Katra, Vipan Chandran-JKPS.

SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh-JKPS, emphasized the police’s comprehensive approach to combating drug abuse, which includes both enforcement and community awareness programs. He highlighted the Anti-Drug Helpline (9070907017) for confidential reporting of drug-related activities.

SSP Singh issued a strong warning to drug peddlers, urging them to cease their illegal activities or face severe legal consequences. The Reasi Police reaffirmed its commitment to creating a drug-free district.
