Following recent cross-border shelling incidents, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary conducted a comprehensive assessment of the affected areas within the Nowshera subdivision of Rajouri district. His visit encompassed inspections of damaged residences, evaluations of shelling-related losses, and direct engagement with affected families and local residents.
During these interactions, the Deputy Chief Minister reiterated the government’s unwavering support for the border communities, emphasizing resource mobilization and proactive measures to mitigate resident hardship. He affirmed that ensuring the safety of all individuals residing near the Line of Control (LOC) remains a paramount priority, and that comprehensive protective measures are being implemented.
Throughout his tour, the Deputy Chief Minister received numerous delegations, who presented grievances concerning the construction of individual and community bunkers, compensation for damages incurred during recent cross-border firing, water scarcity, unscheduled power outages, and the development of link roads.
He promptly issued directives to relevant officials to address immediate concerns and pledged a phased resolution of all legitimate issues.
In a move aimed at enhancing civilian protection, the Deputy Chief Minister announced the planned construction of additional individual and community bunkers at strategically identified locations. “These bunkers,” he stated, “are essential for providing immediate shelter during cross-border shelling and constitute a critical element of the administration’s border security strategy.”
This visit underscored the government’s commitment to safeguarding the security and well-being of the border population.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Nowshera, Pritam Lal Thapa, along with other district and sectoral officers, accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during the assessment.
