“Sakina Itoo Demands Judicial Inquiry into Kulgam Fatalities”

Minister for Health & Medical Education, Sakina Itoo, has endorsed calls for a judicial inquiry into the deaths of two men in Kulgam district, South Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters in Jammu, she stated that if the families of the deceased, Mohammad Showkat Bajad and Riyaz Ahmad Bajad, request a judicial investigation, it should be granted to ensure transparency. Police reports indicate that both brothers’ bodies were recovered from the Vaishaw Nallah at Mah, Kulgam.

Regarding reservations, Minister Itoo announced that a sub-committee has been established to review the existing policies. She reiterated Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s commitment to submitting a report within six months.

Statehood Restoration a “Rightful Claim”

Addressing the issue of statehood restoration, Minister Itoo emphasized that it is not a mere request but a “rightful claim” of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. She asserted that statehood is an inherent right, stating, “If Jammu & Kashmir is the crown of India, we should be given statehood back. It is the collective demand of J&K people.”
