In a significant breakthrough, the Samba police have apprehended the mastermind behind a cattle lifting racket, retrieved stolen cattle, and confiscated a vehicle used in the illicit activities.
A case has been registered at the Purmandal police station under Sections 457 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offense) and 380 (Theft in house) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The investigation is currently underway.
Hamid Din, a resident of Kheri in Bishnah, Jammu district, has been identified as the arrested kingpin.
“The hardened criminal was apprehended by a police team led by Purmandal SHO Vijay Verma under the guidance of Bari Brahmana SDPO Rahul Nagar and Samba Additional SP Surinder Choudhary,” an official spokesperson stated.
Samba SSP Benam Tosh urged the community to safeguard their domestic animals by keeping them in secure locations to prevent cruelty and illegal cattle trafficking.
