Sopore Police have taken decisive action against three habitual drug peddlers, booking them under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS Act). This move is part of an intensified crackdown on narcotics offenders in the region.
The individuals detained are:
- Muneeb Jabar Dar alias Shoga, son of Abdul Jabar Dar, resident of Muqam Shaheed Mir Sopore, currently held at District Jail Udhampur.
- Imtiyaz Ahmad Khandwaw, son of Ghulam Hassan Khandwaw, resident of Baghi Rehmat Sopore, currently held at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal.
- Ishrat Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Kabir, resident of Adipora Sopore, currently held at District Jail Kathua.
All three have a documented history of involvement in multiple NDPS cases and have persistently engaged in drug-related activities, posing a significant threat to public safety and well-being.
Following sustained surveillance and the compilation of detailed dossiers, the competent authority issued formal detention orders under the PIT NDPS Act after thorough legal scrutiny.
