Srinagar Bridges to be Fenced to Deter Suicides

In response to a recent surge in suicide attempts involving people jumping into the Jhelum River, the Srinagar administration has initiated plans to install fencing on several city bridges. The decision comes after a young woman tragically lost her life yesterday by leaping from the Habba Kadal bridge.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din has announced that the process of fencing Nawa Kadal, Fateh Kadal, Gaw Kadal, Safakadal, and Noor Jahan bridges has begun. Detailed project reports have been prepared, and funds allocated for each bridge: Rs 19 lakh for Nawa Kadal and Fateh Kadal, Rs 9 lakh for Gaw Kadal, Rs 29 lakh for Safakadal, and Rs 11 lakh for Noor Jahan.
