Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, experienced a historic heatwave on Saturday, with temperatures soaring to a scorching 37.4 degrees Celsius. This marks the highest July temperature recorded in Srinagar since 1953, shattering over 70 years of previous records.
According to independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif Keng, this temperature is also the third highest July temperature recorded since 1899. Keng has, however, predicted a slight improvement in weather conditions over the next few days.
