Terrorist associates arrested in Srinagar: Police

Srinagar Police arrested three terrorist associates linked with TRF in Natipora.

Acting on specific intelligence, a small team of Srinagar police arrested three terrorist associates linked with the proscribed terror outfit TRF in Natipora area of Srinagar. The arrested individuals have been identified as Imran Ahmad Najar, Waseem Ahmad Matta, and Wakeel Ahmad Bhat.

During the search, police recovered three hand grenades, 10 pistol rounds, 25 AK-47 rounds, and other incriminating materials from their possession.

The police said that Wakeel Ahmad Bhat was earlier an active terrorist linked with the proscribed terrorist outfit ISJK and was lodged in jail for two years. He was recently released from Central Jail on bail.

During preliminary investigation, it came to light that the trio had collected the explosive substances and ammunition from active terrorists of TRF for carrying out terrorist activities in Srinagar city.

A case FIR number 46/23 under section 3/4 Explosive Act, 7/25 Arms Act, 18, 23, 39 UAPA Act was registered at Police Station Chanapora and investigation has been set into motion.

This is a major success for the Srinagar Police in their fight against terrorism. The arrest of these three terrorist associates has averted a major terror threat in Srinagar city.
