Jammu and Kashmir Police, in a joint operation with 13 SIKHLI, 185 BN BSF, and Baramulla Police, apprehended three suspected individuals carrying bags near Jhula Foot Bridge. Upon identification, the suspects were identified as Zameer Ahmad Khanday and Mohammad Naseem Khanday, both residents of Madiyan Kamalkote.
During a thorough search, three Chinese grenades and cash worth Rs 2.5 lakh were recovered from the suspects’ possession. A First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the law was registered at Police Station Uri.
Under sustained interrogation, both suspects confessed to receiving the illegally acquired grenades and cash from Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti, a resident of Madiyan Kamalkote, with the intention of carrying out terrorist activities.
Acting on this information, Manzoor Ahmad Bhatti was apprehended for questioning. During interrogation, Bhatti admitted to supplying the grenades and cash to the suspects for terrorist activities. He further disclosed the location near his house where he had kept another hand grenade and cash.
Following Bhatti’s confession, one Chinese hand grenade and cash of Rs 2.17 lakh were recovered from the specified location. Bhatti was subsequently arrested, and further investigation is ongoing.
