Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Bungus Tourism and Adventure Festival in Bungus Valley, Kupwara, on Sunday. He said that the administration is committed to making Jammu and Kashmir a global tourism destination.
Sinha said that tourism is uniting everyone in the region, while terrorism and its ecosystem had destroyed and damaged almost everyone. He stressed that peace is essential for tourism to flourish, and that everyone, including security forces, locals, and elected representatives, has a role to play in maintaining peace.
The LG congratulated the administration and tourism department for organizing the festival on a grand scale. He said that a lot of changes have taken place in the tourism sector in the past few years, and that the administration is working to promote offbeat destinations and unexplored places.
Sinha said that over 1.58 crore tourists have visited Jammu and Kashmir this year, which is a new beginning for the region. He attributed the increase in tourist footfall to the successful G20 meeting held in Srinagar last year. He said that the administration is expecting to cross the 2.25 crore tourist mark this year.
The LG also said that the private sector is very important for infrastructure development in the tourism sector. He assured that the administration is working to make Jammu and Kashmir a best tourism destination.
The Bungus Tourism and Adventure Festival is a two-day event that will feature a variety of activities, including trekking, camping, and cultural performances. The festival is expected to attract tourists from all over the world.
