National Conference President Farooq Abdullah lauded the new train service to Kashmir, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting its advantages for both residents and tourists.
“I am very happy to be traveling by this train to Katra today. It has been the biggest benefit for us,” Abdullah, accompanied by party colleagues, told reporters before his journey.
The former J-K chief minister emphasized the train’s role as a dependable transport link connecting Kashmir with the rest of India. He noted that it would provide a much-needed alternative to the frequently closed Srinagar-Jammu road and prevent airlines from price gouging during such disruptions.
Abdullah also pointed out the significant boost the railway link would provide to Kashmir’s horticulture sector, enabling faster delivery of produce to markets. Additionally, he reiterated its positive impact on tourism in the region.
