Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Karra on Thursday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy, calling it a “failure” in response to President Donald Trump’s announcement of a 25% tariff on Indian imports and a penalty on Russian oil imports, effective August 1.
Karra stated, “The 25 per cent tax explains our foreign policy. All those countries the prime minister visited for friendly ‘jhappis’ (hugs) have turned their backs on us. This is the outcome of Modi’s ‘jhappi’ diplomacy — they themselves are responsible for the failure of the foreign policy.” He made these remarks to reporters after a “Delhi Chalo” event where party leaders and workers advocated for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood.
