“Two Hardcore Drug Offenders Detained Under PSA”

Under the direction of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS, the J&K Police Kathua have detained two individuals involved in serious drug offenses. They have been booked under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, also known as the Public Safety Act (PSA), and are now held in District Jails in Rajouri and Poonch.

  • Case 1: Parveen Kumar:

    • A team led by SHO P/S Kathua and IC PP Nagri, under the guidance of Addl SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak JKPS and DySP Hqrs Kathua Sh. Ravinder Singh, apprehended Parveen Kumar of Chak Drab Khan, Kathua.
    • He is a known drug peddler with multiple NDPS Act cases against him (FIR No. 84/2021, 189/2023, and 118/2024, all at PS Kathua).
    • A dossier detailing his illegal activities was submitted to the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, leading to a detention warrant under the PIT-NDPS Act.
    • He has been imprisoned in District Jail Rajouri.
  • Case 2: Narinder Singh @Nannu:

    • A team led by SHO P/S Hiranagar, under the supervision of SDPO Border Kathua, apprehended Narinder Singh @Nannu of Diyalachak, Hiranagar.
    • He is also a habitual drug peddler with multiple NDPS Act cases (FIR No. 146/2022 at PS Hiranagar, 185/2023 at PS Rajbagh, and 03/2025 at PS Hiranagar).
    • A dossier was also submitted to the Divisional Commisioner, Jammu, and a detention warrant was also issued under the PIT-NDPS Act.
    • He has been imprisoned in District Jail Poonch.

The actions were taken to curb drug trafficking and protect the youth of the district. The residents of Kathua have expressed their appreciation for the Kathua Police’s anti-drug efforts.
