Police in Kishtwar seized Rs 5 lakh from Mohammad Ashraf Reshi during a routine check at the Paarna Chingam Chatroo checkpoint bordering Anantnag district. Reshi was travelling in a Tavera taxi originating from Gadool in Anantnag.
Authorities confiscated the unaccounted cash and handed it over to the Election Flying Squad Team (FST) as per protocol.
SSP Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom, reminded the public that carrying more than Rs 50,000 in cash is restricted during elections to ensure a fair electoral process. He also commended the police team for their vigilance.
